Forum "Complex Supply of Laboratories in Ukraine"

From the 1st till the 3rd of October 2008 in the 1st pavilion the exhibition center «KyivExpoPlaza» was held the Forum «Complex Supply of Laboratories in Ukraine»: the 1st in Ukraine international specialized exhibition of the labware, furniture, materials and services «LABComplEX», and also a series of specialized conferences (more likely — seminars).
Probably, the official post-release will be still published by organizers. While it is desirable to share the impressions of the visitor which had the luck to spend one day on this event.
General impression
As this event is highly specialized, it was not necessary to cut off crowd and the entrance was free-of-charge, but with obligatory registration after which everyone received the badge that should promote productive dialogue. But even with the preliminary filled application on the web-site, it was necessary to fill again the whole information manually; and distribution of the official catalogues only to VIP distressed a little and did not allow understanding at once where to move on exhibition.
Exhibition
It is impossible to tell, that the exhibition shook imagination, but has surprised — precisely: knowing the development of the market of chemical equipment and reactants in Ukraine I was expected to see insignificant quantity of foreign representatives without local branches. But I have seen, that «not all is so bad» :)
Official Ukrainian representatives of the leading companies of the world have brought on exhibition, practically, everything, that can be necessary in laboratories — from educational and scientific up to manufacturing and medical. Thus it was possible not only "to touch" a significant part of the equipment, but also to test it on the samples. If to consider, that some of devices in only just have appeared in the market (for example, the infrared –spectrometer by Bruker ALPHA FT-IR or confocal microscope with full color display Carl Zeiss Axio CSM 700), the pleasure from research of the samples increased repeatedly.
Home manufacturers have pleased also. The most appreciable were expositions of laboratory furniture (not less than 5 stands), but also were presented manufacturers of reactants, and also utensils. From the equipment it is necessary to noteTermoLab with siccative cases and muffle furnaces of own manufacture; many scientific research institutes and the Ministry of Defence have presented their own developments of the equipment and materials, some of them are quite noteworthy, but the level of their presentation left much to be desired.
Seminars
Seminars were held simultaneously in several halls on different topics. As the fan of physical methods of researches I was interested in the presentation of Carl Zeiss together with OxfordInstruments. The newest products were represented by the international command of managers, therefore the basic language of dialogue was English, but a misunderstanding of public has not been noticed :) Naturally, presentations have shown tremendous opportunities of modern techniques in the field of nanotechnologies and studying of materials.
Separate "plus" of the seminar was closing mini-banquet with champagne which has more heated up the enough warm dialogue of colleagues and potential partners.
Resume
As about all good events it is desirable to tell about it a lot, but anyway, it will not show all the feelings of visitors and participants. Therefore I wish to all interested in the given subject to wait for a next similar exhibition: a lot of new business contacts, interesting information and simply good impressions is guaranteed. The Ukrainian chemical market, notwithstanding with anything, develops, and the exhibitions are already able to be well organized :)
